AUSABLE RIVER EARTH DAY CLEANUP
About AUSABLE EARTH DAY CLEANUP
The Ausable Freshwater Center will be holding their annual Earth Month Cleanup on April 19th. Last year, they brought together over 100 volunteers to pull thousands of pounds of garbage from around the Ausable River watershed in North Elba, Keene, Jay, and Wilmington. We plan to remove thousands of pounds of garbage again this year, connecting our community with tangible ways to steward the river, create a cleaner and healthier river, and provide a safer experience for cyclists, anglers, and all those enjoying the beauty of the area. But we need your help!
This cleanup is an effort to remove the garbage that accumulates along the roads and green spaces that run along the river. Because roads are so close to the river in many places, this cleanup ensures the garbage is prevented from ending up in the river and polluting our waters. Registration is FREE and we provide garbage bags, gloves, coffee, and food for all volunteers. There are also prizes for things like "weirdest trash collected" to increase investment in the cleanup effort.
Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
